A GAME OF TITANS Gary's second novel was published in hardcover by Prentice-Hall in 1976. It told the story of an experimental USAF nuclear powered airship, "The Grand Eagle," involved in a race against time and the Soviet aircraft carrier "Kiev" as both race to reach the distant Pacific atoll of Tongareva, where a defecting scientist with the secret to a new rocket propulsion technology lies at death's door after the plane on which he was travelling was forced to make a crash landing. An American heart specialist is on board to save him while the woman doctor on the island, the specialist's former love, fights to keep him and the other survivors alive and find which of them is the saboteur who crashed the plane. |
A GAME OF TITANS was also published in a paperback edition by Sphere Books in Great Britain. |
